Professional Profile
Mr. Breen is a Fellow at the Johns Hopkins Center for Health Security. His primary interest is in issues at the intersection of Artificial Intelligence (AI) and biotechnology. He brings expertise and experience in statistics, computational biology, and AI.
Mr. Breen worked on the AI team at SecureBio as a research scientist to help develop biosecurity-relevant model evaluations. He also served as an AI resident at Google[x], where he worked on an agricultural-focused “moonshot.”
Mr. Breen is a PhD candidate in the Statistics Department at the University of Wisconsin - Madison. His research focuses on the statistical evaluation of genetic sequence machine learning models. He also spent time as a statistical consultant at the College of Agriculture and Life Sciences, where he advised clients on experimental design and data analysis. Previously, Mr. Breen studied statistics and math at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. While there, worked alongside biologists to study the biophysical dynamics of cell division.
