Center for Health Security welcomes Dr. Alexandra Phelan as Senior Scholar

January 23, 2023 – The Johns Hopkins Center for Health Security is excited to welcome Alexandra L. Phelan, SJD, LLM, LLB to our team. 

Dr. Phelan joins the Center as a Senior Scholar and the Johns Hopkins Bloomberg School of Public Health as an Associate Professor in the Department of Environmental Health and Engineering.

Dr. Phelan is globally recognized for her/their expertise in global health law, specifically international law and infectious diseases and the impact of global change events on health, including planetary health issues such as biodiversity and climate change. 

At the Center, Dr. Phelan will contribute to several ongoing projects, as well as spearhead a portfolio of work related to the intersection of global health law, infectious disease, and climate change.  

She/they is an alum of the Center’s Emerging Leaders in Biosecurity Initiative (ELBI) fellowship.
